With just the one shoulder seam sewn together I could bind the neckline and one of the armhole edges. I serged binding onto both of those edges and finished the binding off. I finish my binding by wrapping the unsewn edge of the binding to the wrong side of the garment, covering the serging stitch. Then I use my domestic coverstitch machine and topstitch in place from the right side. I cut my binding strips at 1 1/4" so I would have a 1/8" overhang on my wrong side to make sure I had enough fabric to cover my seam (sometimes I cut off the excess after topstitching, but mostly I just leave it).
