They were all over the Spring/Summer 2010 runways worldwide: Prints are taking over summer wardrobes.I think prints are having a really good time right now. They are more sophisticated but they have not lost their sense of humor, they’ve evolved into young adults- still a bit quirky and at times, completely ironical. The prints of my childhood were sometimes so campy, my mother used to make vests for myself and my sister out of floral printed corduroy and we’d make scrunchies to match.
I hate screwing up and having to undo everything via the seam ripper. This happens alot, as I hardly ever measure, iron, pin or do much planning at all. So actually, my least favorite thing is probably doing most anything you’re supposed to do to avoid sewing disasters. I really enjoy connecting things to one another.

Look at weight – some online fabric stores list the weight of the fabric in gsm, but other times you just need to infer to from hand and drape whether it’s suitable for your project. I once tried to use babywale corduroy to make trousers even though it was far too lightweight and was intended for shirts. The end result was that the corduroy rubbed away in the thighs in a matter of months! So a lightweight fabric might be great for a drapey blouse, but not so great for a jacket or coat!
