The most frustrating thing for me is when you do everything right, you follow every step to a T, and the finished garment just doesn’t look right. A while back my beau and I launched a limited edition series of custom “I (heart)” organic tote bags & t-shirts as Dahl & Dane. Here at BurdaStyle, we love learning new sewing tricks to help us execute our projects as well as beautifully as possible. Sometimes, of course, the fancy techniques can be a bit much, but it’s nice to have the confidence and knowledge to make a really high-end garment once in a while.
My favourite thing is easily the compliments! There’s nothing nicer than someone telling you how lovely something you’re wearing is & being able to say in return “Thank-you, I made it myself”. My least favourite thing is unpicking. I just have a mental aversion to it. So much so, that if it’s required, it will often mean I’ll put a project aside for a week or two until I really want to finish it.
