Your Soft-Map quilts have become quite a hit with craft and design enthusiasts, what made you decide to mix quilts with maps?While I was a graduate student studying architecture at the University of Michigan, my mother began losing her eyesight from complications of glaucoma. Soft-Maps were an experiment in tactile wayfinding; the idea was that a visually-impaired person would use them as a tool to orient themselves. I’ve been developing the quilts since 2002.
