Right now I am drawing lots of inspiration from Marc Bolan and his glam rock style, Barbara Hulanicki’s designs for Biba and 1970s-era Shelley Duvall, who was just amazing in 3 Women, a 1970s Robert Altman film that I saw recently. Vintage photos of my mom from the 1970s are also very inspiring to me; she had an entire wardrobe of the cutest empire waist baby doll dresses, it seems! I regularly haunt local thrift stores and estate sales for inspiration; I especially enjoy the challenge of incorporating discarded clothing and vintage fabric in my sewing projects. I get daily inspiration from BurdaStyle and other members’ projects as well as from the dozens of incredible vintage images that I see everyday on my Tumblr dashboard.
3.What role does sewing play in your life?Right now sewing is a hobby (or obsession) but i’d love to continue on and eventually be good enough to sell my stuff or even do custom work.4.What is your favorite and what is your least favorite thing about sewing?
In terms of shopping I do find most fabrics, zippers, patterns, buttons, ect. in a shop called kunze. There are two other fabric shops in town, but Kunze has a good range of quality fabrics. If you were looking for a wider range, I would take you to nearby Zurich (only 15 minutes away by train). If you are interested in buttons, there’s just one shop to go: Keckag. If you are looking for a very special fabric, Bambola would be your place. You’ll find very exclusive haute couture fabrics

Try looking for vintage patterns. Those from the 1970’s will have a similar shape and design.Modify an existing pattern.
