I love stumbling on a design that works well and expresses the evolving personality of Fancy Clothing. I never use patterns, so any new design I create comes from eyeballing another design and thinking about translating into Fancy Clothing terms. Patterns are probably my LEAST favorite thing about sewing, but I’m trying to discipline myself into learning the right way, and not just my way. Ugh— patience and details are my biggest problems. I want to get things done!

A really quickie top or vest can be created by cutting this felted wool into two rectangles 5 inches square. Then simply stitch a ? inc seam on the sides and top leaving space for armholes and the neck. Cut up the middle of one panel from the bottom to the top of the neckline. Presto – you have a boxy vest just like that! Now you can embellish with trim, add a belt, or add an appliqué. If you want a more shaped vest, just nip in the side seams until you are happy with the fit. This just the start! In Doll Fashionistas there are 12 mix and match fashions that stitch up in a breeze!

What’s your dream sewing project?I’d love to make a perfect wool winter coat. Or sailor pants. I’ve always wanted sailor pants, but they’re hard to find, and rare that they fit perfectly. If I can draft a decent pattern, I will make several pairs.
