Of course it would be fantastic to make something big and gorgeous, for example a wedding dress or a dress covered with lace and chiffon – and a lovely girl inside. I want to make more dresses and lovely things for myself, but I’ve noticed that I dream about making clothes for other people too. Still most of the time I dream about projects that aren’t that fancy or anything, only clothes I know I’d love to have; A winter coat, swimsuit, a playsuit, white summer dress…
What about you? Have you ever made anything out of feedsacks (they’re still obtainable on eBay)? If you’ve ever looked through that trunk of pictures in your attic, have you ever found pictures of your mother of grandmother wearing dresses made from flowery feedsack patterns of the time?Thank you all again for letting me share my love of all things vintage.

It’s an absolute love/somewhat at times hate relationship: My favorite part of sewing is pretty much everything. Thinking and drafting my idea, picking out the fabric and notions and my absolute fave the finished product. My least favorite part of sewing is the sore fingers (from getting poked from needles), the expense (thrift stores help with that), the broken needles in the middle of sewing, and not having enough fabric for the project.Since I’m pretty new to the sewing world I make stuff for myself for now and small stuff for others. I would love to make something for my husband or someday a wedding dress for someone on their happy day.

Leah will be wearing the dress with a half slip, so the fabric will drape neatly, and I didn’t want to add any more weight to the skirt. Leah could even wear the dress with a crinoline if she wants a more retro look.
