Once the side seams were sewn, I serged on the elastic just as I did for the panties and topstitch with a zip zag. At the center front I wanted a mitered point so I stitched a little V to get that sharp point. Then I sewed on the elastic as straps to the front and pinned to the back so I could try on the bra and fit the straps.
I started sewing at the age of 15 when I went to the High School of Fashion Industry, NYC. It’s definitely a one-of-a kind specialty public school. In addition to learning all of the basic core classes, I was taught sewing and tailoring. I wrote my first book, Simply Amazing Quilted Photography, and decided to published it myself because it was rejected by one of the major book publishers. I pushed through publishing the book because I knew it was special and it turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. The book gave me instant credibility and because of it I was invited to be a guest on several quilting television shows.
I always get inspiration when watching others’ creations! It’s nice to get feedback from other sewers and see what they’ve made.
